Forbidden Flavours on 18th
About This Spot
Stepping into Forbidden Flavours on 18th feels like discovering a quiet nook where the worlds of rich coffee aromas and well-loved pages intertwine. Nestled in Brandon, this spot carries a calm, unhurried rhythm that invites you to pause and savor the moment, whether you settle in with a book or catch up with a friend over a cup brewed just the way you like it.
The space offers a gentle balance — light filters softly through the windows, casting a warm glow over shelves filled with carefully curated books and shelves lined with freshly roasted beans. The scent of ground coffee mingles with a faint whisper of baked goods, creating an atmosphere that’s as much about comfort as it is about curious discovery. There’s a friendliness here that’s quietly genuine, where the staff’s attentiveness nudges your experience toward ease and warmth without feeling rushed or overly polished.
What sets Forbidden Flavours apart is that each visit carries a sense of exploration. Whether you’re drawn to the subtle complexity of a matcha latte or enticed by the boldness of a raspberry cappuccino, each choice reveals layers of flavor that reward an unhurried sip. Behind the counter, freshly baked treats add an unspoken invitation to linger — desserts like delicate lemon cake or the rich comfort of carrot cake feel thoughtfully crafted to pair perfectly with your drink of choice.
The layout, with seating spaces both up front and tucked away at the back, offers a quiet refuge for those seeking stillness or a casual spot to connect. And for moments when time is short, the drive-thru adds a practical rhythm to the experience, blending convenience with the same quality and care found inside.
Forbidden Flavours returns again and again to the simple joys: the freshness of coffee beans roasted mere days ago, the subtle play of flavors in a Vietnamese frappe, the easy pleasure of browsing thoughtful gifts. It’s less about chasing fleeting trends and more about creating space for everyday moments that feel quietly special.

My favorite place for fresh coffee beans! I'll often pick up a few bags and see the roast date is either that same day or a few days before. Love it!

Such a cute spot, great service, tasty coffee, and so many beautiful items to buy for gifts etc. Love it!

Five stars for the Vietnamese Frappe alone - that drink was an experience! Smooth, full flavoured, the brown sugar, and we think we even tasted a bit of smokey essence! (right in photo) Also a bit of 5 star love for their Winnipeg Folk Fest kiosk every year. The green tea frappe (left in photo) was mid, but still good. Area is spacious with front seating and back room seating. Looks like a good venue to meetup at.

Great coffee and always friendly service! I enjoy going here for coffee, however I find it’s getting expensive. But it’s always a nice treat!

Everything here is so delicious! If you are in a hurry there is a drive thru and if you want to have a peaceful time and enjoy life the ambience inside is just gorgeous. Staff is friendly and attentive, there is a summer menu that you can see right at the entrance, there is ice cream too and the cutest baby size ice cream cone! Definitely 10/10
